Value Village & Other Grabs

Yesterday while in town we headed into Value Village to find some school clothes for Jordyn, my son (who informed me today that he starts kindergarten in 23 days & counting apparently *laugh*). We did great finding some stuff for him, though I also ended up finding some stuff for me to wear after my upcoming surgery this October. (more on this latest in another post)

And of course I couldn’t resist in seeing if they had any good bags of yarn available – boy did they ever! *laugh* I came away with 5 bags with between 9 and 4 skiens and balls in each for a little under $10. Not bad I must say. *grin*

(sorry lost photo during last site maintenance July 1, 2010. Photo will be back once I find it again.)

I do have to admit, I’m quite tickled pink in finding what I did. The multi-colored yarn with burgundy, green and white I actually have a skien of it that I bought at Zellers last time! There’s about half of the skien left out of this one here. Also in this stash, there is an ol’ Eaton’s brand worsted weight wool – with it’s band still on it and everything! That was definitely a find! You can’t find that yarn any longer considering Eaton’s has been out of business for many years now.

In that stash I was also able to find some really nice colors of crochet thread. The blue and white seen in the photo (middle bag) I’m going to be making some doilies and some other stuff with it for my Nana for her room… am thinking it’ll be her Yule gift.

There was also some really funky yarn that I think I’m going to use to make some cool little animals for Jordyn. He’s been bugging me for some crocheted finger puppets for a few months now, so I might as well put this “new” yarn to good use.

I already have a few projects lined up for Yule gifts for my family and some friends, which is good because I’m going to have a lot of time on my hands soon where I won’t be able to physically do much.

Out of all the places that we hit today, we spent the most time in Sears. They were having some pretty good bargain sales. Ended up getting some new shirts and other stuff. It’s been quite a while since I got clothes for myself, focus has mostly been on Jordyn & his growth spurts. My Mom treated me to a really beautiful green printed shirt that I just love; she said it’s my birthday gift… or at least one of them. *laugh*

Apparently, my other gift is a ticket to see the Celtic dance performance Riverdance when it comes to town at the Confederation Civic Center this October.  I have yet to see this performance and am looking forward to it very much.

With all the stuff that came into my place with us tonight not one item I paid for… mind you I’m in debt to my Mom now much more! *laugh* What ever would we do without our Moms and Grandmothers?! *huge grin*
